Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to read about The Wife of My Youth, find the launch and order a copy, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
Standard
The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Pop-up windows (photo viewer, WhatsApp, sharing, privacy settings) keep focus inside while open, close with Esc, and return you to where you were.
- Text contrast is at least 4.5:1 in both the light and the dark look, and buttons and links are at least 24 by 24 pixels.
- The page follows your device’s light or dark setting, and the moon or sun button at the top of every page switches between them.
- Moving content pauses when you hover or focus it, and all animation stops if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Form errors are announced and move you to the field that needs attention.
- Luganda phrases are marked as Luganda so screen readers pronounce them correctly.
- The page works and shows all its information without JavaScript.
How it was tested
Automated checks with axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA on phone, tablet and desktop widths, and keyboard testing of every interactive part, in October 2026. It has not yet been tested with screen readers by people who use them every day.
